Indie Bohemian Jewelry Artist: Suzette Cunningham, Elephant Trunk Up
Meet Suzette Cunningham, owner of Elephant Trunk Up. Suzette sells beautiful bohemian, gemstone jewelry and accessories.
indieland: How did you first become interested in making gemstone jewelry and accessories?
Suzette: I actually started making polymer clay jewelry dishes, then I started creating jewelry to put into the dishes. It has evolved after acquiring a crystal book and I was hooked!
indieland: What do you love most about what you do?
Suzette: I have full control of my creativity. I used to work in a corporate world and after many years, I took the leap and decided to do what makes me happy.
indieland: If you could only use three words to describe your business/products, what would they be?
Suzette: Uniquely bohemian chic. (Words I hear often from customers.)
indieland: Why do you believe it is important for people to shop independent and local this holiday season?
Suzette: Shop independent and locally year round! You are supporting someone's dream and we work hard on putting love and effort into each piece.
indieland: Describe what it means to you when someone buys a product from you/your business.
Suzette: I started my business after my mother passed from Lymphoma. I needed to put my sadness and anger into something positive. She used to collect small elephant figurines -- "The trunk must be up for Good Luck!" Whenever someone buys from my business, it brings an immense amount of joy and keeps my mother's memories alive. She's now traveling around the globe through my jewelry and accessories.
