indieland Song of the Week - Mick Jenkins "Gwendolynn's Apprehension"

Mick Jenkins' new album "Pieces of a Man" follows his excellent album from 2016, "The Healing Component". Emerging from the Chicago hip hop scene in 2014 with his classic mixtape "The Water(s)", Mick has established himself as a hardworking MC with a ton to say.

His signature poetic style is on full display throughout "Pieces of a Man", and my personal favorite track is "Gwendolynn's Apprehension". The low-key Black Milk production compliments the theme of staying true to yourself and the importance of authenticity.
