Chicago Indie Weekend Guide September 21-23, 2018
Discover and support independent businesses and art in Chicago this weekend!
It's starting to (slowly but surely) cool down outside, but that doesn't mean you should spend more time indoors! Venture out this weekend for these events that showcase and support independent businesses and art.
Saturday, September 15, 3 PM - 11:30 PM
The annual Chicago Lit Crawl is this weekend, and it is packed full of great events in storefronts and venues throughout Andersonville and Uptown. It's a mostly free literary festival, but there are two special ticketed events: a conversation with New York Times bestselling author, Samantha Irby and the Tangles & Plaques Show at the Neo-Futurist Theatre. Events are happening simultaneously at various local businesses, so you'll have to make some hard choices about which ones to go to! Check out the full schedule here. I recommend making a stop at Women & Children's First for the Author Panel, where six Chicago authors will share their favorite books of the year.
Covet Market Sunday, September 23, 10 AM - 6 PM
Covet Market is a curated marketplace that supports local businesses--many of which are women owned. The hosts say the event is like "taking all of your favorite boutiques, local designers, and favorite snacks under one roof!" That sounds fun to me! In addition to shopping, there are food trucks, coffee, adult beverages, and activities for the kids. Is it too early to suggest looking for unique Christmas presents? If not, this is definitely a good place to do it. Or just buy yourself something special! Learn more about Covet Markets here.
Sunday, September 23, 11 AM - 3 PM
If you're interested in health, wellness, and spiritually, you should definitely check out The Well North Shore! They'll be showcasing products and services designed to enhance wellness and good living at their Fall Marketplace this weekend. There's no cost to attend the event, so stop by, explore, and get to know friends of The Well.
Enjoy your weekend, and support some indie businesses in the process!
