Chicago Indie Weekend Guide October 12-14, 2018
Discover and support independent businesses and art in Chicago this weekend!
Oh my, there are so many good events this weekend! And they're all getting me into the Fall mood. If it's possible, we're going to try to make it to them all . . .
Friday, October 12, 5 to 8 PM
We've featured Moondance on indieland previously, and as I mentioned then, it is one of my favorite indie shops in the city. I always come home with something new! And they're doing another great shopping event this Friday from 5 to 8 PM. There will be finger food, wine, and sales, of course! Shop for something new for you or consider getting an early start on your holiday shopping.
Friday, October 12, 6 to 10 PM (Tarot reading starts at 7)
Perhaps before or after you've done your shopping at Moondance, head over to Pilsen Community Books. The store stays open late every second Friday of the month for wine and treats. This month, they invited a local tarot card reader, Terilyn. They'll start the wine and treats at 6 and then tarot at 7. It's the perfect month to try something magical or mystical, so why not give tarot a try! In addition to the wine, treats, and tarot, this is simply a great bookstore to browse. We went last year on Small Business Saturday. The store looked so pretty and cozy for the holidays that I can't resist sharing a few photos from our trip in November 2017!

Coffee & Chocolate Tasting at Katherine Anne Confections Saturday, October 13, 12 to 4 PM
Love coffee? Love chocolate and other sweet treats? This is your chance to indulge! Katherine Anne Confections whips up some seriously delicious treats, and we know because we've tried them! We've sampled their treats at farmers markets and we've been to their store. Again, I couldn't resist including a photo of the beautiful hot chocolate flight we had there last winter. Each chocolate drink features decadent flavored marshmallows on top! For the event this weekend, they are inviting five coffee roasters to their shop, and each will have two coffee samples that pair with beautiful confections. Sipping some warm coffee while enjoying sweet treats sounds like an ideal activity for an October afternoon! Tickets cost $25.
Saturday, October 13, 1 to 6 PM
Head to Wicker Park on Saturday to browse this handmade market featuring local artisans and craftspeople. Items for sale include jewelry, tapestries, prints, sculptures, and original artwork. These pieces are truly unique -- one artists creates jewelry from items she has found on the streets of Chicago.
Enjoy your weekend, and support some indie businesses in the process!
