A great place to brunch in San Jose: Scrambl'z

On our long journey home from San Francisco, this San Jose breakfast spot was the perfect place to get coffee and plenty of food to fuel us through the ride home.

We decided to stop in San Jose en route home from San Francisco to visit an independent bookstore (of course!) but we also wanted to grab a bite to eat at a local breakfast/brunch spot. On our stroll through The Alameda, Scrambl'z stood out to us as a cozy spot to get the comfort breakfast food we needed.

We're vegetarians, so that typically limits our choices on menus, but all it takes are one or two great dishes without meat and we're good to go. We had no trouble here, and settled on the french toast, the Tijuana Omelet, a side of hash browns, and some iced coffees. As you can see from the photo, it was quite the feast!

Not only was this perfect morning comfort food, it was served in a very fun space. We were definitely snapping photos of the cool memorabilia in the walls and the giant replica Scooby Doo bus near us, which you can actually dine in! I imagine this is a great spot for kids--they'd love everything in here.

As a visitor on the road, I really appreciated having this as a stop for food and coffee--and stopping at places like these is so much better than just stopping at some random chain restaurant! Whether you live near San Jose or are visiting, Scrambl'z is the perfect option for a hearty breakfast.

When you're on the road, do you stop more often at chains for a quick and easy bite, or do you try to find the cool local spots? If you have the time, we encourage you to look around for a local spot--it's a great way to show your appreciation for a city and give back into their local economy, so you can continue to visit for a long time to come!
